A vehicle history report helps avoid the worst surprises: rolled-back mileage, hidden accidents or a flood. Two are most used in the USA – Carfax and AutoCheck.
Carfax
- The most maintenance and service records.
- Accidents, number of owners, mileage records, title history.
- The most widely used in the USA.
AutoCheck
- An overall score compared with similar cars.
- More auction sales data.
- Fewer service records than Carfax.
What they do not show
No report sees events nobody reported to an insurer or the police. A report adds to the photos and an inspection, but does not replace them.
