BMW X5 from the USA without duty
The BMW X5 (and the X6 and X7) is built at BMW's plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina. So an X5 bought at a US auction pays 0% EU duty from 1 July 2026.
How to recognise it
The VIN of a US-built BMW X5 starts with 5UX. In our search and on the vehicle page it is marked "Built in the USA · 0% duty".
Versions
- xDrive40i – petrol, the most common in the USA.
- xDrive45e and xDrive50e – plug-in hybrids: shipping costs more, J1772 connector (an adapter to Type 2 is needed).
- M50i, X5 M – powerful V8 versions.
What to check
- The airbags and front damage: the repair is expensive.
- Whether it is "Run and Drive", and the title type.
- A Carfax report (5 €).
